Whether it is work on the streets, in the home, or in an office, mediated by technology or built infrastructure, or people, the woman worker must be taken into account in her entirety. This is not only a moral and ethical imperative but also an economic one, given that in most economies of the world, women are under-represented in the workforce. Marginalizations amplify with the intersectionality of identities and their grievances.
Working women’s lived experiences and insights could help reshape the world of work particularly in the contexts that they occupy in increasingly large numbers. In the ‘Opertationalising FemWork’ Toolkit, we offer both an argument and an approach to creating a new “world-work order” based on feminist principles of justice, equity, and dignity.
In this workshop organised in collaboration with JusticeAdda, we expanded the applicability of this toolkit by working through the collective contexts and imaginations of feminist principles of work.
